Three passes

How it works

  1. Pass 1

    Say what needs cleaning

Pick the job, add your postcode and tell us about the rooms, the fibres and any marks or smells that worry you.

  2. Pass 2

    We look for local cover

If a local carpet cleaner covers your postcode and you have agreed, your enquiry goes to that one cleaner and nobody else.

  3. Pass 3

    Settle the details with them

The cleaner contacts you to talk through the method, the timing and the price. Nothing is booked unless you decide to go ahead.

A cream sitting-room carpet half cleaned, with fresh lanes beside the duller pile and an extraction wand resting on it near a sage green sofa.
The lanes are the pile lying the way the wand last passed over it. They soften as the carpet dries and is walked on.

For the carpet cleaner

Useful to have to hand

None of this is needed to send an enquiry, but it helps the carpet cleaner understand the job sooner.

  • Rooms and rough sizes

Which rooms, stairs and landings, and roughly how big each one is. A rough idea is fine.

  • What the carpet or fabric is

Wool, synthetic or a blend, if you know. For sofas and chairs, the care label often carries a cleaning code such as W, S or X.

  • Stains and smells

What caused them if you know, such as coffee, wine or a pet, and roughly how long they have been there.

  • Furniture and access

Any heavy pieces in the rooms, and where a van can park. Some machines run hoses from a van to the door.

Questions

Is Mid Herts Carpet Cleaning a cleaning company?

No. We are an independent enquiry service and we do not clean carpets, rugs or furniture ourselves. With your consent, we pass your enquiry to a local carpet cleaner, if one covers your postcode, and that cleaner may pay us for the introduction.

What if nobody covers my postcode?

We let you know, and your details are not passed on to anyone. You are then free to look elsewhere.

Does a carpet cleaner need a licence?

No licence is needed to clean carpets in England. That makes it sensible to ask any cleaner how they would treat your particular carpet, which products they would use and what happens if a mark will not lift.

How long will my carpet take to dry?

It depends on the method, the fibre and thickness of the carpet, how much soiling had to come out, the weather and how well air moves through the room. Ask the cleaner for their view before the day so you can plan around it.

Will a carpet clean get my tenancy deposit back?

Nobody can promise that. What happens to a deposit depends on your tenancy agreement, the condition of the property when you leave compared with the check-in inventory, and what you and your landlord agree.

Do I pay anything to enquire?

No. There is no charge for sending an enquiry, and it does not tie you to anything. Any work, and what it costs, is for you and the cleaner to agree.
